Peer Review Policy at LORE

Initial Screening

Submissions first undergo an editorial screening to assess relevance, originality, scholarly quality and compliance with LORE Review's submission requirements.

Manuscripts selected to proceed are evaluated by reviewers with appropriate subject-matter expertise.

Join As A Peer Reviewer

Editorial Outcomes

Editorial outcomes may include:

  • Accept

  • Accept subject to revisions

  • Revise and resubmit

  • Decline

Reviewer recommendations inform the editorial process, but the final publication decision remains with LORE Review.

Submission or peer review does not guarantee publication.

Reviewers are expected to provide an assessment that is:

Independent : Based on the merits of the manuscript.

Constructive: Focused on strengthening the scholarship and identifying substantive areas for improvement.

Confidential : Respectful of unpublished work and the integrity of the review process.

Relevant : Grounded in appropriate subject-matter knowledge.

Policies

Authorship & Contributions

Authorship should reflect a meaningful intellectual or substantive contribution to the manuscript.

All listed authors should:

  • approve the final manuscript;

  • agree to its submission;

  • take responsibility for their contribution; and

  • disclose relevant conflicts of interest.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that authorship information is complete and accurate and that all listed authors have consented to submission.

Originality & Citation Integrity

Submitted manuscripts must represent original work and appropriately acknowledge the ideas, language, data and research of others.

Authors are responsible for independently verifying:

  • legal authorities;

  • cases and legislation;

  • quotations;

  • citations and references;

  • statistical or empirical information; and

  • substantive factual claims.

LORE Review may use appropriate tools to assess originality, citation integrity and compliance.

Confidentiality

Unpublished manuscripts and information obtained through the editorial and peer-review process must be treated as confidential.

Reviewers and editors must not:

  • distribute unpublished manuscripts without authorization;

  • disclose confidential editorial information;

  • use unpublished ideas or findings for personal or professional advantage; or

  • otherwise compromise the confidentiality of the review process.

Publication Ethics

LORE Review expects all participants in the publication process to uphold high standards of honesty, transparency and academic responsibility.

The journal does not accept:

  • plagiarism;

  • fabricated or falsified research or information;

  • invented or manipulated citations;

  • inappropriate authorship attribution;

  • undisclosed conflicts of interest;

  • duplicate publication; or

  • deliberate misrepresentation of sources, evidence or research.

  •

Where concerns arise, the Editorial Team may seek clarification, conduct further review, reject a manuscript or take appropriate post-publication action.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers and editors should disclose financial, professional, personal or institutional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as affecting their objectivity.

Disclosure of a potential conflict does not necessarily prevent participation or publication.

It allows the Editorial Team to determine whether:

  • disclosure alone is sufficient;

  • safeguards should be introduced;

  • another reviewer should be appointed; or

  • an editor should recuse themselves.

Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

LORE Review recognizes that artificial intelligence tools are increasingly used in research, writing and professional workflows.

The use of such tools does not reduce the author's responsibility for the submitted work.

Authors remain responsible for:

  • accuracy;

  • originality;

  • legal and factual verification;

  • appropriate attribution;

  • citation integrity; and

  • compliance with applicable ethical standards.

Material use of generative AI in preparing a manuscript should be appropriately disclosed.

AI tools:

  • may not be listed as authors;

  • must not substitute for author verification of legal authorities or sources;

  • must not be used to fabricate references, quotations, cases or evidence; and

  • do not assume responsibility for the accuracy or integrity of submitted work.

All citations, quotations, legal authorities and factual claims must be independently verified by the author.

Editorial Governance & Publication Standards

Corrections, Retractions & the Scholarly Record

Where a material issue is identified after publication, the journal may issue:

Correction

Where an error requires amendment but does not undermine the overall reliability of the work.

Editorial Notice

Where clarification, disclosure or further review is required.

Retraction

Where serious concerns materially undermine the reliability, originality or integrity of the published work.

Substantive post-publication changes should be clearly identified and appropriately documented.

Copyright, Licensing & Permissions

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the legal right to submit their manuscript and any accompanying material.

Necessary permissions should be obtained for third-party:

  • images;

  • photographs;

  • tables;

  • figures;

  • substantial quotations; or

  • other protected material.

The applicable author rights and publication licence will be communicated before publication.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • scholarly quality

  • originality

  • relevance

  • integrity

  • contribution

  • suitability for LORE Review

Commercial relationships, institutional affiliations, sponsorship arrangements or personal relationships should not determine whether a manuscript is accepted for publication.

Editors should recuse themselves where a conflict could reasonably affect—or appear to affect—the impartiality of an editorial decision.

Complaints & Appeals

Authors and readers may raise concerns relating to:

  • editorial procedure;

  • publication ethics;

  • peer review;

  • potential errors in published work; or

  • other matters affecting the integrity of the journal.

An appeal should identify the specific decision or procedural issue being challenged and provide relevant supporting information.

An appeal does not constitute a new round of peer review and does not guarantee reversal of an editorial decision.
